The Two

There is always two sides to a coin. At least in most realities. There is a push and a pull. Yin Yang. Two forces in opposition, yet working in tandem, in sync.
Is it the same for people ? There are two opposing facets which are both you. One is chaos, other is discipline. One is activity, other is rest. One is care, other is indifference. One is progress, other is devolution. One is civilization other is the baser instincts. Better men than me have attempted to decide which is better, superior. I don't know if they succeeded. Doesn't matter. I don't listen to others anyway.
But this inherent sense of duality is a common thread in almost all religions and philosophical schools. The devil & god, good &evil .
I don't know if one is better than the other. But sometimes one is more suitable than the other to attain certain objectives. If you are running away from a pack of dogs you need activity, alertness, adrenaline. If you trying to sleep, you need the opposite.
Problems happen when the dominant trait at the moment doesn't align to your objective. If laziness is dominating when you are in trouble, you  will have inertia instead of momentum.
The trick lies in identifying the objective first and seeing which of the traits you need for it.
The problem is that you are not always in control of what trait is in the forefront of your brain at any given  moment. Is there a way around this?

May be. As a theory, you must sow the seeds when it is season, not when you are hungry and need harvest. Might seem like a completely simple idea. But how many of us do it. For example, it is a Sunday morning and you are feeling energetic, with a will for activity. You must perhaps iron all the clothes required for the week while you have the energy. Though the need doesn't come until Monday.
The system and method is to identify the objectives and achievables ahead of time. And take progressive measures towards it when you have the strength, not when you have the need.
People who are immensely successful in their lives can probable alter or call upon the traits as and when required.
This here is more of an idiots strategy to survival.
With time and effort you will get where the successful people are, by managing your time and mind.
May be taking up weekly exercises at disruption. Disruption is grinding against the grain. If your mind is in inertia, push it to momentum.
Slowly you will be able to do a thing that is needed, hammering mind into a shape required to do it.
Start with finesse , close with brute strength.

The challenge will be to find causes that are worthy of the effort.
Find a dream, if you cannot find one, join someone whose dream appeals to you. In the end humanity as a whole should take a step forward. We need everyone for that generals, logisticians, messengers, soldiers, tacticians.
Take your pick. Experiment. You will fall, you will fail. No 'if' about it. But the objective is to lead an interesting life.
The objective is to have stories to tell. If you don't have many stories, may be you are not living a full life yet.
